My Bucket List for the next 5 years!

All of us have this small wish list that we target to strike off indefinitely. So I thought, this time I must keep a time frame within which I must have struck off each and every item on the list. So let me say in the next 5 years I should have hopefully done all of the below mentioned tasks. Let us take a glimpse of what these tasks are!

1. Solo Euro trip:
Backpack..strangers..new cities..interesting stories..history of various streets and cultures..delicious delicacies..camera..YOU! Stop dreaming and make it happen. Here are a few sites that can help you plan this dream trip:
The Savvy Backpacker
- Blonde Chic Travels

2. Bike trip all the way to Leh-Ladakh:
Leh is one of the most beautiful and serene places in India and is situated at a good height in North India. Race through the cool breeze on a sexy Royal Enfield bike and cruise the high peaks with swag. This journey would be the closest to nature as it can get. Here's a link that you could use to arrange for the trip - LehLadakhIndia.

3. Start your own blog:
Passionate about cooking, traveling, reading, playing or simply watching TV? Start penning your views and opinions about whatever you love and dream about. Use this guide to start your own interesting documentation of ideas - StartBloggingOnline

4. Learn a new skill:
It may be SAP, CorelDraw, JAVA or it may be painting, cooking or anything else that interests you. Try Sulekha to look for a course of your choice near your area.

5. Learn a new Language:
Here I am not referring to any computer programming language but a real spoken language like Spanish, Sanskrit or Mandarin. You could use Duolingo for this and get fluent with a new language of your choice.

6. Join a non-profit association:
Spend at least one weekend in a month for a social cause that you support. It may be for the welfare of orphans, special kids, old people or even animals. You may not have enough money to donate for these causes, but you could definitely spend 3 hours monthly to spread some happiness. You could also enroll for a program like Teach For India and do your bit for the society and its welfare!

Do's and Don'ts of Website Design

Everyone owns a site or a blog these days. It's the next thing that one owns after a smartphone. So when there is so much competition out there in the digital world, how will you survive and rise up to be one of those really popular sites that people keep coming back to? There are some very simple things that one ought to follow, in order to create an elegant yet stylish website that is not just user-friendly, but also speaks volumes about your brand or yourself (in case of a personal blog). I have compiled a humble comparison between some good and bad elements of website design that you may incorporate in your layout.

1. It's either high-res or useless!
Your site is the link between you and your customer. It is your brand's identity. Make sure that the images that you use on your site are high resolution ones that are taken from legitimate sources. You could use Pexels for this purpose.

2. Minimalistic is the new fantastic!
Simple and elegant designs are many day more appealing than a jarring website filled with unnecessary content and images.

3. Are you socially visible?
If your social media buttons aren't positioned strategically, you are bound to lose your customers who could be potential influencers for your brand. Place your social media icons in such a way that they are in the first fold of your homepage and pretty prominent for users to click and follow your profiles.

4. Less is always more!
It is a myth that your site must be loaded with content. All you need to ensure is that your content is of good quality and relevant. Keep minimum text on all your pages, so that viewers landing on your site are not stressed out to read huge volumes of random words.

5. KISS - Keep It Simple Silly!
Always adhere to this golden rule while designing your homepage. If your homepage is simple and easy to follow, you have higher probability of visitors navigating deeper into other pages on your site.

6. Clear Call-to-Action is the key to Increased Conversion!
CTA buttons are an integral part of your revenue system. Make sure that there is high clarity in the suggestions, positions and meanings of each of these buttons used on your site.

7. Move the coins smartly
Navigate your users very wisely when they land on your website. Ask them the correct questions that makes them view the most relevant and intended pages on your site.

Hope these tips help you in designing a really kick-ass website for yourself! In case you are stuck and need further help regarding this, click here to get in touch with some really great website designers.

OMG has been recently reassigned as OH MY GOOGLE! In my opinion, this suits the acronym much more! Google has been inventing a lot of wonders in the past and has come up with two latest additions to the family. Google Home and GBoard are the newest babies on the block that redefine ingenuity. So, today I wish to talk about these products and how it promises to deliver to its best ability.

2. GBoard:
Say you’re texting with a friend about tomorrow’s lunch plans. They ask you for the address. Until now it’s worked like this: You leave your texting app. Open Search. Find the restaurant. Copy the address. Switch back to your texts. Paste the address into a message. And finally, hit send.

Searching and sending stuff on your phone shouldn’t be that difficult. With Gboard, you can search and send all kinds of things—restaurant info, flight times, news articles—right from your keyboard. Anything you’d search on Google, you can search with Gboard. Results appear as cards with the key information front and center, such as the phone number, ratings and hours. With one tap, you can send it to your friend and you keep the conversation going.

How to choose the correct career path?

This is just about the time when most our kids or friends or neighbors or even we ourselves rack our brains on selecting the most apt career. So what are the factors that we need to consider while making the selection? Whom does one turn to in case they have queries? What should one prepare for in order to land their dream job? Your mind throws a volley of question at you that seem to make it more complex for you to take a firm decision. Here are a few guidelines that you may use to assist you in making this difficult choice. Ask yourself the following questions to evaluate for yourself what you must take up!

1. What are passionate about and how good are you at it?
A lot of us have dreams of becoming a pilot or a teacher or even a magician when we are young. However, little do we realize that we may not even know a single thing about driving a plane or any of our other dreams. It is essential for us to identify where our passion and skill both lie. If they are not aligned, then we need to re-assess certain things and come back. Ensure that you establish a strong bond between the two and come to a firm decision.

2. Are you oriented towards promotion or prevention?
A person who is focused on promotion is the one who lacks patience and seeks for bigger things at a faster pace. He is more likely to be a creative person who may not feel comfortable working for anyone else apart from himself. However, if a person is prevention focused, then he is likely to feel more secure and comfortable in a traditional 9-5 job that offers him a decent pay, career stability and the usual perks of a corporate world.

3. What type of personality do you possess?
This is a hugely influencing factor when it comes to deciding your career. You could be an introvert who prefers quiet and lonely workplaces with least disturbance from your colleagues. Or, you may be the complete opposite and be an extrovert who loves socializing and voicing your opinion in the public. A marketing or advertising background would be the best for the latter while a research role or that of a coder would be impeccable for the former personality type. It is imperative for you to make this deduction.

4. What type of lifestyle would you want to have?
Although some of you may be wondering as to why is this question given so much importance, but, you;ll soon realize that this is not that unimportant after all. A lot of us may not be born with a silver spoon and would have had to struggle a lot to reach so far. For a lot us belonging to this category, living a luxurious life in a shorter span, then you should look for a career that enables you to make money faster. If you prefer traveling and want to live a lifestyle of a wanderer, then look for a career in photography, or something allied. If you are just looking for job satisfaction and want to give it back to the society, then make a career in teaching or social service.

5. Which place in the world do you want to settle down?
If you have strong preferences regarding the place you want to live in, then you ought to make a calculated decision. Research on which career options are available and preferred in your choice of location and select accordingly. If you are looking for a glamorous career in fashion or even advertising, then a place like France or New York will suit your choice. While if you want to live in a countryside with a calm and peaceful atmosphere, look for a job in agriculture or allied fields.

Hope this article helps you zero in on a successful and suitable career for yourself. In case you have further queries, then look at this site for some options available in the market.

Brilliant Business Ideas with Low Investment!

A lot of youngsters are already tired of going for a 9-5 job and are looking for options elsewhere. And, the older generation who no longer want to simply sit at home, watching television, are also searching for better ways to engage themselves in something constructive. However, to start a business from scratch, a huge sum of initial capital is imperative. This is a problem in case of both our youngster and the old person. I myself have been wondering of how I could start my own venture but without investing a lot. So on doing some quality research, I came up with the following ideas that don't require too much of effort on the monetary front.

Sow the seeds of your own small business!

1. Consultancy:
I am sure this is the first thing that crossed your mind when you thought about starting something on your own. But a lot of people get stuck at just the thought and often don't know how to move forward with this idea. All you need to do is first identify your domain of expertise in which you will be offering your consultation. Next is to tap all the contacts that you have made in life so far. You never know who would offer you a helping hand. So clear out all your inhibitions and get into business. Initiate a casual and friendly proposal to those who belong to your connection of friends and relatives. For those who belong to your professional connection, opt for a more formal approach wherein you mention details like costing, benefits, needs and other advantages of hiring you as their consultant. Follow-up regularly and incessantly. Remember, you need their business more than they need you. You could offer your services in the financial sector, matrimonial services, digital marketing or even website hygiene.

2. Content Writing:
If you are truly passionate about writing and can offer your services as an ace content writer, then don't even think about anything else. Content is the key to success these days. Be an important contributor to that success.

3. Mobile Food Court:
Do you love food and own a car of your own? Then you need nothing much but a small induction gas stove that you can use to cook yummy dishes and set up a mini-restaurant in your car itself. Give yourself a fancy name, create social handles that have the potential to go viral and there you are - the perfect recipe of Success!

4. Customized Gift Store:
Birthdays and Anniversaries can and will never go extinct. The demand of these days being celebrated will only increase over the coming years and never get depleted. If you think you have the skills to create something really interesting and creative that could serve as a personalized gift to someone special, then start your own store that can run from your humble abode itself.

5. Blogging:
Have you ever wondered if blogging about your favorite hobby could fetch you any income? Oh yes, it can! You could blog about traveling, cooking, eating, dancing, dressing up or even shopping and earn money for writing well. Explore more here.

6. App Creation:
Are you crazy about mobiles and have a kick-ass concept to create a mobile application? Then go ahead and just employ a freelancer to build your app based on your idea and design. Register the app and start seeing your bank balance grow!

7. Wholesale Reselling:
Go to a local market where you can purchase items in bulk at reasonable rates and resell this in retail market with a dash of creativity from your end. Go on and pick any item of your choice. It could be dresses, jewelry or accessories like bags and shoes. Give it an innovative touch like exquisite designs, pairing it with something else interesting that only you could offer and there you go!

8. Selling Your Art-form:
Are you a great artist? A graceful dancer? Or a soulful singer? Whoever you are, simply start your own channel on YouTube or create your own site and teach your art-form to the masses who are just as passionate as you are. Start an online tutorial service for a subscription fee and make money for each course that you chalk out. If you are not sure about doing it yourself, you have popular websites where you can get listed and become famous!

Now that you have a fair idea about all the avenues out there in the market, take your pick and start your venture! Here's wishing you all the luck and success :)

Trending tips to design an awesome website!

I am sure all of us have done this at least once. You hear about some new product and immediately check on your phones for the website of the company that sells the product. If its nice and appealing, you may choose to buy the product. If the website doesn't entice you, I am sure you wouldn't prefer to stay on it even for a minute and decide that the product is not great (while in reality, it may be an amazing product). It is imperative for any company, small or big, to have a really alluring and self-explanatory website. So what are the key elements to creating a great website? Ask the following questions and see if you are able to answer each one with utmost clarity and precision.

1. Is there clarity in the purpose of your website?
Who are you? What do you do? What can your audience find on your site? Do you cater to specific need of the society? All of these questions must be clearly answered in your website with simple yet powerful words that highlight your product/service.

2. Does your website strike the correct chord with your target audience?
Stick to simple and effective communication in the language that they prefer. Give them what they exactly need in their style.

3. Is your site capable enough to create a compelling need for your audience to stay longer on it?
Your website must have a good, wait..great value proposition that forces your customers to keep reading through the various elements of your site. Don't let your audience move away from your domain easily.

4. Is your site simple, creative and user-friendly?
Always follow the golden rule of KISS - Keep It Simple Silly. Simplicity is often more appealing than complexity. Add creative and effective elements to your website that navigates the user in a very easy and seamless manner. Avoid broken links, unpleasant color schemes and too many unnecessary links. Align the design with the tone of your business and taste of your audience.

5. Are there enough Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons on each page of your site?
This does not mean that you load each page with CTA buttons, but have apt and effective ones that let your users find what they want at the correct time and place. Incorporate intelligent elements in your design that capture intricacies of user behavior and work favorably for you.

6. Is your website optimized for multi-device usability?
Ensure that your website works equally well across all devices including desktop, tablet and mobile. Additionally, make sure that you test your site on multiple browsers and fix any kind of bugs that you may notice.

7. Is the content on your site static or dynamic?
Keep dynamic content that has the potential to refresh your site frequently. This enables search engine crawlers to automatically find you and list you in their result pages.

8. How long does it take for your site to load on any device?
Page speed is an important aspect that not may developers pay heed to. Your site should load quickly so that viewers don't migrate away from your site due to extended waiting period. Avoid too many heavy components, and if at all those components are necessary, optimize and compress them for optimum user experience.

9. Are you aware of the F-Layout?
User behavior states that a normal human being always reads from left to right and top to bottom. Use this to your advantage and work towards placing your best elements in correct positions that catch your users' attention.

So, have you been able to answer all of the above questions? Go ahead and tick them all off the list!

Website design is an integral part of your business and never should you neglect this aspect. All the best in designing the best website for your business. In case you need to hire a really good website developer, you could look for great options here.

Guilt-free tips for a healthy and fit vacation!

It's holiday season and we all have our dates marked in the calendar for that annual vacation. Unfortunately, with memories we also pile on a lot of calories while traveling. We work so hard throughout the year for that perfect and fit body just to lose it all in one single trip. That sounds too harsh. Doesn't it. Well, you could take things under your control with a few of my traveling tips for that health-freak in you.

1. Have healthy items on the complimentary breakfast menu:
In case you are staying at a hotel that offers complimentary breakfast (which most hotels do these days) then opt for healthy dishes like cereal, fruit bowl, boiled eggs with salt and pepper, salads without mayonnaise, toasted wheat bread with peanut butter, baked beans or oats. Have healthy fruit juices instead of milkshakes. Don't even think about touching the french toast, maple syrup, muffins, puddings, hash browns and other fried items.

2. Have a hearty meal once a day:
Assuming that you have had the complimentary breakfast in healthy style, you are permitted to have a nice sumptuous lunch at a fancy restaurant. It would be ideal for you to stay moderate instead of going overboard with everything. For your daily dinners, pack some masala oats packets that only require the addition of a hot glass of water, or buy some wheat bread and ketchup/diet spread from the nearest 7/11 store and enjoy the meal in your room watching some good shows on TV.

3. Walk or cycle while exploring the new place:
Always prefer to walk or rent a bicycle to explore the new vacation spot. It gives you a good opportunity to burn all those extra calories that you collected the previous day. Additionally, it is an inexpensive and interesting way to discover stories of the destination that you have selected.

4. Have desserts, but share:
We all know that sharing is caring. In this context, you are caring for yourself. I know it's a crime to go all the way to Paris and not have the raspberry crepes there, or return from Switzerland without having that large slice of Black Forest Cake! So go ahead and have a bite of each of the desserts you feel like having, but do not binge on them.

5. Lose the key to your hotel room's mini-bar:
Your room's mini-bar usually will have the tastiest yet unhealthiest goodies stored in it. Do yourself a favor and never think about touching any item in it even once.

6. Drink warm water always:
Prefer to ask for warm drinking water, whenever and wherever possible. Warm water helps in digestion of food and keeps your metabolism rate intact instead of making it haywire.

7. Watch your poison:
You definitely have to booze while you are on a vacation. But ensure that you don't stuff yourself with too much alcohol. Its the most calorie-rich item that you need to keep a watch on.

Have an amazing and healthy vacation with these interesting and fit tips for you to not cheat on your diet. In case you need assistance to book tickets for your travel, you could look-up here.

Do you know The Roommate Rules?

Scared of sharing your room with a stranger? Well, to be honest, you should be a little anxious about this as it might unknowingly affect a lot of things for you, both personally and professionally. Although you have very little power to know everything about your potential roommate before starting to live with him/her. However, once you have decided that he/she is the one, you need to bear certain things in mind to make things a lot easier for you. Listed below are few pointers to help you stay amicably with your roomie.

1. Present a crystal clear image of yourself beforehand: Mention you habits and preferences in a polite manner to your roomie before itself. Don't let him/her discover your choices as and when instances take place. That you have an OCD for neatness, you are an early riser, you are an introvert, you prefer listening to music in high volume, etc. should be clearly communicated to him/her.

2. Resolve matters when they are little: Never let any issue grow bigger until you have a complete showdown. Try and talk about the bothering issues and resolve them then and there.

3. Respect your roommate's belongings: It's always fine to borrow something with your roomie's permission. However, don't take undue advantage of his liberty and start assuming his belongings to be your's. Respect his stuff and be courteous. Ensure that you never cross the line here.

4. Watch whom you bring to your room: You may have group study sessions or even a partner with whom you'd want to spend some time. But make sure that you discuss with your roommate about this and know that he/she is comfortable with this.

5. Maintain safety measures: Always remember to lock doors and windows before leaving the apartment. This may seem silly, but its quite easy to be careless. Never assume that the other person would've taken care of the doors/stove. Make sure that you physically check each time you step out.

6. Extend a hand of friendship: A roommate need not be a good friend, but just imagine if he/she was. It would be really great to have a buddy in your roommate. Things would get so much easier. more fun and interesting to spend your bachelor days with an awesome roomie. Try to befriend him/her and keep things simple.

7. Learn to adapt to new things: Your roommate may follow a different religion, speak a different language or have a staunch belief of his own that you may disagree with. Best thing to do in such situations is to be open to everything and accept new things in a positive manner. You'd be surprised to find out so many interesting things yourself and who knows, you may learn a new language itself!

8. Always follow the Golden Rule: The Golden Rule, as we all know it, states that - "Always treat the other person in a similar way you'd want to be treated." Isn't it so simple to follow this rule? Follow this and you'll discover the meaning of the word MAGIC!

If you think you could add a few more points to this list, please feel free to mention them in the comments below. I see a lot of students looking out for roommates right now before migrating to the USA for doing their Masters from a reputed University. For all those who are still on the hunt, check out this site and find your suitable roomie! All the very best and don't forget to share your experience here.

Inspiring Stories of Indian Entrepreneurs!

Indian entrepreneurs are really very inspiring and some of their heroic stories are untold. Being enthused by such success stories, I did a bit of research on various websites and magazines to figure out how one could make it big with simple yet powerful ideas. Based on this little research, following are a few really amazing stories that encourage you to go that extra mile with a humble idea and reach the pinnacle.

Sulekha.com : This is a really inspiring story that I came across when I was reading a magazine in the plane. Mr.Satya Prabhakar and his wife went to America through his work and slowly settled there. However, back then, they did not have any relatives or friends who could help them with small services like a good Indian cook to help them out, a decent Indian salon for their beauty essentials, etc. They decided to start noting down all the help they figured out somehow and developed a blog to spread the word across to their neighbors and fellow Indians in their community. Now, he is the owner of a really big company called Sulekha.com, that has its wings spread not only in India, but in USA, UK and Middle East. What started as a blog is now a big business. Sheer brilliance and dedication. Something this simple really inspires me a lot. Every successful startup caters to some or the other need of the society and Sulekha happens to be the biggest example of that!

Jayaashree Industries: Arunachalam Muruganantham, India’s “Tampon King.” He acquired this title by figuring out how to locally produce low-cost sanitary napkins that have the dual benefit of not only providing women with an affordable, hygienic management method for that time of the month, but also providing employment to many women.

Sandeepha Restaurant: Starting from merely 50 paisa per day, Mrs. Patricia Narayan now earns INR 2 lakh a day. She started her career 31 years ago as an entrepreneur, selling eateries from a mobile cart on the Marina beach a midst all odds. Today, she has overcome the hurdles and owns a chain of restaurants.

ID Idly Dosa batter: Musthafa P.C, a school dropout who went on to study at IIMB, quit his software job to start an enterprise that sold idly-dosa batter. His is a success story that has trickled down to his 600 –odd rural employees too.
